This uses gutta-percha, a natural rubber-like material. It is warmed until it liquefies, allowing it to reach even hard-to-access lateral canals. This gives us a particularly complete, and therefore bacteria-tight, root filling.
The advantage of a thermoplastic filling:
- A tight filling with a well-tolerated material protects the root canals from bacteria re-entering, or escaping from an isolated space.
