A well-prepared appointment saves time – and makes treatment safer. You can add this list to your phone's reminders or calendar with just one tap.
What we need from you
- Electronic health insurance card (for patients with statutory health insurance), or your insurance details; privately insured patients please bring the name and address of their insurer
- ID card – helpful for correct registration at your first visit
- Referral letter, if you were sent to us by a doctor
- X-rays and previous findings from your current practice (digitally on CD, USB stick, or by email in advance is welcome) – this helps us avoid unnecessary X-rays
- Bonus booklet and, if you have one, your supplementary dental insurance documents
- Any existing dental prosthetics: denture, splint or bite guard – even if you no longer wear it
Important for Your Safety
- A list of your medications with active ingredient and dosage. Blood-thinning medication (e.g. aspirin, Marcumar, Eliquis, Xarelto), bisphosphonates and antibody therapies for osteoporosis, cortisone, immunosuppressants and diabetes medication are especially important.
- ID cards/passports: allergy passport, warfarin/anticoagulant card, cardiac passport (for example, after valve replacement), diabetic ID card, emergency ID card. After endocarditis or with an artificial heart valve, antibiotics may be needed before treatment – please tell us about this beforehand.
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding – please be sure to let us know in advance; this affects X-rays, anaesthesia and medication.
- Please also let us know about acute infections, fever, or recent operations – sometimes a different appointment date makes more sense.
Timeline and Travel
- For your first visit, please arrive 10 minutes early – for registration and any open questions.
- Fill in the medical history form in advance: This is conveniently done digitally from home. Further details on the page Registration form and documents.
- Our own parking spaces are available directly outside the practice; the rooms are accessible and step-free. You'll find directions and a map under Contact.
- For more extensive treatments, allow yourself a little extra time – we take our time, and don't want you to feel under pressure.
If treatment is planned under sedation (twilight sleep) or general anaesthesia
- No food from six hours beforehand, clear fluids allowed up to two hours before.
- Arrange for someone to accompany you: You must not drive yourself for 24 hours, and shouldn't go home alone.
- Remove nail varnish and artificial nails (oxygen saturation is measured on the finger), leave contact lenses, jewellery and piercings at home, and wear comfortable clothing with short sleeves.
- Take or pause medications as discussed. Details on the process: general anaesthesia and sedation.
For Children
- Children should be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian; if the parents live apart, a written consent form from the second parent with custody is helpful.
- A favourite cuddly toy or headphones are welcome to come along – it takes the edge off the nerves.
- Please announce the visit in a relaxed way and avoid words like “injection” or “drill”; we explain everything in a child-friendly manner. More on this: paediatric dentistry.
If you're anxious about visiting the dentist
Just tell us – ideally already when booking your appointment. The first appointment can be purely for getting to know each other, with no treatment. More detail: angstpatienten-weissenfels.de, with an anonymous self-test.
Cancel or reschedule an appointment
Please let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you are unable to keep an appointment – by phone on 03443 339 65 54 or via the online reception. This way, someone else can take the slot.
