3D Implant Planning with Navigation

Conventional (two-dimensional) X-ray diagnostics is often not sufficient to plan implant treatment safely – for example, where there is little jawbone available, or a nerve runs close to the tooth roots.

3D Implant Planning with Navigation

In these starting situations, it is possible to plan the implant placement in advance on screen using computer-based technology – including the exact position and size of the implants.

The advantages of 3D planning:

  • A more precise assessment is possible, and with it more comprehensive protection of sensitive areas of the jaw (e.g. nerve pathways).
  • Any bone augmentation that might otherwise be needed can potentially be avoided, since the existing bone is used more effectively.
  • The appearance and exact positioning of the dental prosthesis (for example, a crown) can often be determined even before the procedure – this approach works backwards from the desired result and offers benefits for dental aesthetics.

How 3D planning works:

  • 1. Modern three-dimensional X-ray technology is used to create individual cross-sectional images of your jaw.
  • 2. These individual images are assembled by a computer program into a complete image. Your jaw is then available on screen as a three-dimensional image. We can rotate it, view it from all sides, and magnify it as needed.
  • 3. The placement of the artificial tooth roots is carried out “virtually” on screen before the actual implant surgery, taking the optimal position into account.

In addition, a surgical implant guide can be produced based on the 3D planning. During the subsequent placement of the implants in the jaw, it guides the drill and precisely defines the exact position of the implants for the procedure. This is why it is referred to as "navigated implant placement".

The advantages of navigation:

  • This simplifies implant placement further.
  • As a rule, the procedure can be carried out in a way that is gentler on tissue and more comfortable and safer for patients – partly because few or no incisions in the gum are needed.

Guided implant placement is an option in certain starting situations. We're happy to advise you on this.

Our Medical Technology

From X-ray to finished tooth, with no detours

For us, digital does not mean “modern for technology's sake” – it means fewer impressions, fewer appointments and fewer surprises.

Partner Programme – Straumann Group

Immediacy Center of Excellence

The “Immediacy Center of Excellence” is a programme run by the Straumann Group, a global manufacturer of dental implant systems. Practices can take part if they can demonstrate documented case numbers in immediate implant placement (“Immediacy”), regular further training, and a digital planning and manufacturing workflow using the manufacturer's products. Our practice has been a partner practice in this programme since January 2025. Participation is a manufacturer partnership and not an independent certification.

Saturday

What “by arrangement” means

On Saturdays we treat by prior arrangement — specifically for matters that need a long, uninterrupted block of time: implant placements, larger surgical procedures, extensive dental prosthetics, treatment under sedation or general anaesthesia, and appointments for patients who travel a longer distance and would like to have everything done in one day.

For short matters — a polish, a check-up, having a filling looked at — we will find an appointment together during the week. That is usually quicker for you as well.

We will briefly clarify by phone whether your concern is a good fit.
